Caller opportunities
Be the voice
someone looks forward to.
Safi pairs isolated seniors with consistent human companions. We’re looking for people from the social services world who know how to really listen — and want meaningful part-time work that pays well.
Apply nowThe role
You call. You listen. You show up consistently.
You’re assigned a small roster of seniors — your people, permanently. Same schedule every week. You remember what they told you last week. You follow up on the people they’ve mentioned. You bring genuine curiosity about their lives to every call.
Safi callers come from social services, elder care, counseling, nursing, and teaching backgrounds. You bring professional knowledge of what seniors need — and your seniors bring decades of lived experience that no classroom has ever given you. The exchange is real.
How Safi compares to other part-time work
The effective hourly rate — accounting for actual time including brief call notes — runs $19–$22/hour. No car. No gas. No commute. No standing for eight hours.
| Role | Real net/hr after costs | Physical demand |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash | $6–$8/hr after gas + car wear | High — driving, carrying |
| Uber / Lyft | $10–$14/hr after insurance + depreciation | High — hours of driving |
| Retail part-time | $12–$14/hr after commute | High — standing 8 hours |
| Remote call center | $14–$18/hr | Scripts, quotas, pressure |
| Safi caller | $19–$22/hr effective | None — couch, phone, your schedule |
Who we’re looking for
We don’t need a specific credential. We need the right person.
Social services background
You work in or have worked in social work, elder care, counseling, nursing, or teaching. You understand how to be genuinely present with people who’ve been through things you haven’t. That professional grounding is what makes these calls feel different to seniors who can tell the difference immediately.
Genuinely curious about older adults
You want to genuinely understand senior experience — not as a subject of study, but as people whose perspective has been shaped by decades you haven’t lived yet. That curiosity is the foundation of every good call.
Able to sit with silence
You give people room to think. You know that a pause after a question is often someone actually processing — not a cue for you to fill the air. You’re comfortable with the quiet, which makes the words that follow mean more.
Patient with repetition
If someone tells you the same story for the fourth time, you hear something new in it. You understand that for them, it may not feel like a repetition — and you treat it accordingly every single time.
Grounded in confidentiality
What you hear on calls stays there. You treat the relationship with the discretion of a professional, not the looseness of a side gig. This isn’t a rule you need reminding of. It’s already who you are.
Has a quiet, dedicated space
Your calling environment is quiet, consistent, and free of background noise. Your seniors deserve to feel like they have your full attention — because they do. This isn’t optional and it isn’t flexible.
